New driving rules for teenagers in Michigan!

Only one passenger with the teen driver and NO driving after 10pm.

Seems to me that the more some "legislation" tries to prevent deaths one way, people will find new ways to kill themselves and others.

HERE IS THE STORY

When I lived in CA, the teens there rarely died in car crashes; some were on motorcycles, one on a ATV trying to jump a creek bed, one was killed by the local drug king due to him fixing to turn evidence, one guy killed his wife with a gun, one walked into a train, and a variety of other ways.

Maybe these new laws will save some lives. We can hope so. But then again, why can't parents simply take responsibility for their kids and teach them the proper respect and responsibilities of driving?

AIDS tests come to South Africa's schools

Ok, I got real upset when I read THIS article.

Go read it and you'll see what I mean.

I'm not talking about whether or not it's right or wrong to test kids; I'm thinking the REASONS put forth for NOT testing are really .............what is the word? Moronic? It's like: "I don't want to get tested, so I won't know cause if I don't know then I won't have it"

THIS statement really burned my hide: "Children's advocates immediately called for caution, fearing that students would feel forced to take the test, even if they weren't emotionally prepared for a positive result."

What?????? Not prepared for the positive result? NO ONE is prepared for a positive result!!! But that doesn't mean we don't NEED TO KNOW!!!!

If I think I may have some kind of sickness, ESPECIALLY if I can pass it on, you can bet your last dollar I'M GONNA GET TESTED!!!!! How could I ever even THINK of putting someone else in danger just because I don't "want to know".......?

Where is my 'slap the stupid out them' stick?

Good grief, if these kids have AIDS, they NEED to know. AND they need to know how NOT to get it!

The faster growing group contracting hiv is heterosexual KIDS! 21 years and under.

Now whether or not it is RIGHT TO test them, they can refuse if they want to. So no one is forced to take the test.

I just really feel for these young ones who are NOT educated about HIV or who are forced into sex and contract it.

What does "change" REALLY mean?

We've heard the word SO much, we are sick of it: Change!

We've seen Obama's version of the word. Are we satisfied with that? I know I'm not.

We hear: "the more things change, the more they stay the same" yep, we can see that.

But seriously, what does change mean? How FAR do we really change? What do we really want to see change?

I know what I'd like to see "change", let me share a few things:
I'd like to see a clean and healthy environment with clean and healthy people who joyfully LIVE.

I'd like to see each and every person know what personal responsibility is and do it. I'd like to see an end to greed and corruption. People truly putting others before themselves.

gee sounds a bit Utopian doesn't it. Well I can dream and I usually dream big when I do.

I have my own bit of peaceful life.... but drama from the world always overshadows it and creeps in.

So what will it take to have a world full of happy, peaceful, healthy people?

a LOT of change. Not just external changes but internal changes.

Sometimes I swear that we as a society have battered spouse syndrome. We are so use to this deplorable society we live in, that we do not think we can do better. Or maybe we think we don't DESERVE better.

Can we change our minds and "do to others as we want done to us"? sure as individuals but really in order for that to really work, EVERYONE has do to that.

And let's face it, some of us LIKE being greedy.

So here we shall sit: battered and bruised -taking it. Losers?

Maybe some day we will get our fill and begin to realize that we DO deserve better and we can DO better ...individually and it will spread until those who think they have all the power will realize that they really don't have it because we will have CHANGED and their little pathetic kingdoms will crash at their feet.

Or maybe we can just "bitch slap" them?

What I think it all boils down to is: our personal integrity.

It will take a change within each and every one of us.

Let's find our integrity and change for the better, even if others don't. I'd rather be a "loser" with my integrity intact; than a "winner" without it.

the bible according to a kid

The Children's Bible in a Nutshell

In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says, 'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that.

Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did.

Then God made the world.

He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet.

Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden.....Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel.

Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.

One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.

After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.
God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments. These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff.

Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.

One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town.

After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.

After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore.

There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of The New. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')

During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats.

Jesus also had twelve opossums.

The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.

Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount.

But the Democrats and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.

Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again. He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.

T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today.)

R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

pass this info on!!!

another funny

A man and his ever-nagging wife went on vacation in Jerusalem . While they were there, the wife passed away. The undertaker told the husband, "You can have her buried here in the Holy Land for $150 or we can have her shipped back home for $5000. The husband thought about it and told the undertaker he would have her shipped back home. The undertaker asked him, "why would you spend $5000 to have her shipped home when you could have a beautiful burial here, and it would only cost $150????" The husband replied, "Long ago, a man died here, was buried here, and three days later, rose from the dead. I Just cant take that chance!"

Disorder in the Courts

The following are from a book called Disorder in the Courts - things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters who had the torment of staying calm while these exchanges were actually taking place:
ATTORNEY: How old is your son, the one living with you?
WITNESS: Thirty-eight or thirty-five, I can't remember which.
ATTORNEY: How long has he lived with you?
WITNESS: Forty-five years.
_____________________________________
ATTORNEY: What was the first thing your husband said to you that morning?
WITNESS: He said, "Where am I, Cathy?"
ATTORNEY: And why did that upset you?
WITNESS: My name is Susan.
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning?
WITNESS: Did you actually pass the bar exam?
___________________________________
ATTORNEY: The youngest son, the twenty-year-old, how old is he?
WITNESS: Uh, he's twenty-one.
________________________________________
ATTORNEY: Were you present when your picture was taken?
WITNESS: Would you repeat the question?
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: And what were you doing at that time?
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: She had three children, right?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: How many were boys?
WITNESS: None.
ATTORNEY: Were there any girls?
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: How was your first marriage terminated?
WITNESS: By death.
ATTORNEY: And by whose death was it terminated?
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: Can you describe the individual?
WITNESS: He was about medium height and had a beard.
ATTORNEY: Was this a male or a female?
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: Is your appearance here this morning pursuant to a deposition notice which I sent to your attorney?
WITNESS: No, this is how I dress when I go to work.
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: Doctor, how many of your autopsies have you performed on dead people?
WITNESS: All my autopsies are performed on dead people.
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: ALL your responses MUST be oral, OK? What school did you go to?
WITNESS: Oral.
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
WITNESS: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m.
ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at the time?
WITNESS: No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy on him!
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: Are you qualified to give a urine sample?
WITNESS: Huh?
______________________________________
ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
ATTORNEY: But could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.

Refuge

Over the centuries, when a people became persecuted or oppressed they were able to flee to some other land. Today, people still flee to other lands when war comes knocking. Just look at some of the wars in Africa. However, so many are chased away, very very few find sanctuary or refuge.

Many years ago, the Pilgrims came here to America. And others came: the Irish, Jews, Germans, etc. Actually America has been a haven since before it was a country. We do NOT mind others coming but want them to do so legally. But it's not illegal aliens which are killing our country.

No. They are a symptom. Just as unemployment is a symptom. And the stock market and house market taking a nose dive.

Yes, our "Republic" is dying a painful death.

So what is the CAUSE? Dare I even put forth what I believe it is?

Sure why not....after all, it is still America right?

But let's get back to the word "refuge". Since there always was a place for people to literally run to....where will they go NOW?

Where can anyone go? Will our urge for "flight" due to the increasing pressures be able to be fulfilled? Or will we simply have to stay and stew in our anxiety? We can't get to Mars yet....is there anywhere else to "run away" to.

Nope. There are no "lands" available to run to anymore. None. Oh sure individually we can run and hideout in the "wilderness" places like deep in the mountains somewhere but as a people, there is no where to run to or hide.

And there are lot's of people ready to "begin again" and "get a fresh start" SOMEWHERE.

Where can we find refuge? Where we KNOW we are safe and can raise a family according to how WE feel is best?

Nowhere.

Thus the pressure will continue to grow and grow and the root cause of the death of our country.....apathy..... will blow up and spark some major changes. Yes apathy will no longer be the cause of the death of our country but will transform into the cause of our 'release' from the pressures.

Because there is NO doubt...the pressure WILL either have to be eased or it will explode. And I think that it is going to explode.

Explode over something we've not yet thought of -maybe. Some small "straw" that will break it all apart.

Where will our refuge be for this day?

Maybe fleeing to the mountains is the answer, yet I don't really think so.
Maybe finding a cave to huddle in? perhaps.

I've been thinking about this a LOT lately. Of all the possibilities. Of all the disasters people are predicting to befall us shortly: from medical pandemic's to a dwarf star that is allegedly approaching our earth (in a 3600 year cycle) which will put the movie 2012 to shame.

Where could one find refuge in THAT scenario?

Supposedly our governments are already for 'anything' that happens with deep bunkers for the "chosen ones". It pretty much sucks to think that the worst of mankind would be the ones to be saved.

Yet.............

I don't think their bunkers will save them.

Because I DO think there is a "refuge". And you may not agree with me. But I do the best I can....I've got some food set back, enough to take care of my family for about a year...working on a two year supply. Got a few plans. But most of all, something I realized today is that I will always have a refuge, one I can count on -trust. And that is ...

yep, you guessed it: with God. :)

Ps 18:2

do you like to read?

Are you a book hound like me? Well, my house has gotten too small to add many more books but all is not lost!!!

I have found a solution! (since the two libraries near me have run out of books)

KINDLE!!!

and it doesn't cost me a penny!

I went to Amazon and downloaded their FREE Kindle for PC!

Now I've found dozens and dozens of FREE books to download. Everything from Thomas Paine's Common Sense to some favorite classics like: Treasure Island and White Fang. I even found a Star War's book for FREE!!!

It is a nice piece of soft ware and so far I've not had a bit of trouble with it.

did I mention it is ALL FREE?

Now the 2010 books may cost. But once you've seen those fairly cheap prices, you may want to spend a couple bucks.

Just go to Amazon.com and download the free kindle; then go to the "kindle store" and "search" for "free kindle book downloads" and you'll find dozens. There are a few in the list (that popped up for me) that did cost but the majority were free. Just click on the one step buy button on the upper right, it will take you to the buy page, click on the connect to kindle PC button and it all is sent wireless.

Have fun and don't forget to eat and drink!
