No more Sears or A&W.....?

I LOVE A&W!!! I hope they keep the drink going. The only A&W around here closed months ago. I use to go every once in a while. What an awesome past time! Where I grew up, there was a real sit down restaurant that my "youngest-older" sister worked at. I loved their food and drink. I remember as a kid what a treat it was to go and get a small icy cold root beer after church and those frosty glasses.

The Sears in the town/city near me, has been having huge sales (that somehow I never made it to any of) and I think it has closed it's doors. I'll have to check and see if they are still open or not. If so, I may be able to get a new mower cheap.

oh, HERE IS THE STORY AND LIST (I almost forget to post it, got lost in my childhood there for a bit)

I did figure that after their major 'make over'; myspace would bite the dust. Which reminds me, I need to go delete all my pictures and stuff over there....

Have a great evening! I'm off to bed (I know it's early) cause I will be getting up super early to head to the farmers market in the morning. :) yay!

Good for HIM!

Seems that so many forget that it takes TWO to make a baby; and a man's rights are forever being disregarded. Here is a man who stood up for his rights: as a DAD and an American!

YOU GO! That judge was WRONG!!!! I hope you win an appeal!

Judge Tells Ex-Boyfriend to Remove Abortion Billboard

ALMOGORDO, N.M. – A state district judge Thursday ordered an Alamogordo man to immediately take down a billboard that implies his ex-girlfriend had an abortion.

It really makes me mad when people forget that the baby growing in the mother, is also 1/2 of dad. So what that child is in the mom, she should NOT have the right to end the life of a child that is only 1/2 hers.

And I'm sure this may tick many off. And I've heard all the arguments. This story is about that father's rights to be a dad and his rights to free speech.

No need to make comments about "rape" and "incest" because those reasons for abortion make up less than 0.003% for all abortions.

If the woman doesn't want kids, she should keep her legs closed. It is incredibly sad that so many women willingly end their child's life when there are so many women out there who desperately want kids and have miscarriages or cannot get pregnant.

I don't have TV

That's right, I do not have TV in my house....well, let me amended: I do have A TV but I am not hooked up to any antenna (which are pretty useless now anyways) nor cable nor dish.

So when I DO want to watch some show, I go online to hulu.

One show I absolutely LOVE is America's Got Talent! I found it last year and laughed and cried and thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of every show.

The new season started a few weeks ago (if you go and catch the previous episodes now, you won't have to pay for HuluPlus).

Piers Morgan, Sharon Osborne, and Howie Mandell are the judges. And they are almost as fun to watch as the acts.

I love both the good and bad acts.

So if you are in the mood for a bit "TV" check it out. I believe you can also go to YouTube videos and see some clips.

NO MORE ENABLING!!!

Since I'm a pretty simple person, I don't have a whole lot of needs so I don't make too much of an impact in the economy. If I decide to NOT buy something, it won't hurt the companies bottom line.

But I've been slowly changing my spending ways anyhow. I had bought an HP laptop in 2005 and had nothing but problems while it was under warranty. There was a court case where it was suppose to be replaced but when I went to the website, it kept going in circles and so I never was able to get "signed up". The 800 number was NEVER even ANSWERED! And NONE of my emails were ever answered either. So I "missed out" on that. Well I won't ever buy an HP again.

I also was frequently sent to India on phones calls where they could not understand me nor I them.

So again, I won't ever buy HP again.

Now supposedly Gurneys is an American company but when I called customer service where did I get??? That's right: INDIA. And she HUNG UP ON ME. I called back and actually got someone here in the USA and she told me that the person in India said I HUNG UP ON HER. I called her a liar. And when I asked why an American company was using cheap labor in India, I was told that she could not discuss it. But she could confirm that the company does use a contracted service in India. I told her they need to be fired because they are giving Gurneys a bad rep. She (and I swear there was a smile in her voice) "would be happy to take my complaint and process it"! I did tell her that I ONLY work with American companies and that this would be my last order with Gurneys. She supposedly took that information down also.

I looked through Wally world and the big K stores and could NOT find ANY clothing that was made in the USA. Now granted, I only looked in my own size but still.

I guess I will have to start looking at the fabric too. I didn't think about that. I wonder if they put on it where it is made.....

So despite my itty bitty impact on the economy, I will be continuing my quest to stop enabling big companies that make billions of dollars of profit off of child and cheap labor.

Man sets himself on fire

A New Hampshire man burned himself to death in front of a courthouse. The specific reasons are individual to him, regarding a domestic violence arrest and prosecution. But the larger reason he killed himself is that he says the system no longer follows the Rule of Law. Once you read past the details, he gives a fascinating analysis of the system. He argues for a complete takedown of the Federal Government and starting over from scratch.

the man's letter of "why" he did it is also on that page. He makes MANY good points. There IS a two book system. It took me awhile to read it. I had to keep stopping and catching my breath. This is not a man who was nuts or crazy. He is calmly collected and has his facts to back himself up. He did the research and the digging.

He is correct, men are being treated with EXTREME bias. As a woman, I am in full support of equal treatment. I have also always been for men's rights. Even as a child, I never thought it fair that I only got to see my dad twice a month. How is a child suppose to form a bond when they do not get to spend TIME with their dad??

I SO get this guy! Coming from a broken home, so much of what he says makes sense.

I'm just incredibly sad he felt he had to set himself on fire to make his point.

Portrait of a stalker?

Usually a stalker is a person who silently and secretly follows you around, for years sometimes. Obsessed by you. Obsessed over you. Until that day you stumble upon them and become aware of their presence. Or they make themselves known to you.

Sometimes you never know you have a stalker. But these days anyone who uses the internet now has a stalker. Yes, you do. Deny it all you want but you DO have a stalker. You even have more than one. Some are good, some annoying and some bad. Motivation behind the stalking is what is important.

If you use any browser window, your searches are being kept track of. So google stalks you and probably a few others, like yahoo. Do you go on facebook? how about myspace? they stalk you. Sure most of that stalking is to present you with specific advertisement to get you to spend money! Annoying!!!! But hey, we get that usage for free! So to me, tolerable.

and then we have the people who - friend you on social networks; following all your comments.... and our blogs! lol! but I like my -stalkers! lol! I think of these types as good since we learn from each other and entertain each other.

Then we have the bad. The bullies and the narcs. The bullies are those who follow you around and say awful things and slander you. They push at you with their words. Their self esteem is so low, they only feel good/powerful when they are ripping someone apart (verbally) for the joy of it. Sick people these ones are.

The narcs are those little creepers that keep track of what you do in order to try to catch you doing something they do not approve of. Like our government does. They have programs running constantly on the watch for key words (a list that grows daily, I am sure) and I imagine little sounds of alarm go off and the actual person will collapse the window of porn they are currently looking at (or facebooks farmville) and see what was said by who. Fill out some kind of form and paperwork about it....cause God KNOWS how much our gov LOVES paperwork and then file it somewhere in our -permanent record. (remember when we would be threatened by that in school?? lol!)

did I miss any? it is 3 in the morning so I may have left someone out. If I did, I apologize to that stalker type. I did not leave you out on purpose.

small towns and hope

I had a most interesting thing happen to me today. And I would have missed it if I had not driven the way I did.

I was coming up to one of the lights in town (one of three) and my light was red, so I was slowing down to stop. I was going straight through.

When low and behold, a truck with one of the "garden trailers" on it (you know the ones that carry the mowers....?) whipped through going crosswise (I was going south, they were going west) and they hit some kind of bump (it must be there though I have never felt it) and what happens??? LOL! the MOWER is tossed up in the air just high enough and long enough for the truck to drive the trailer OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE MOWER!!!! Yes the mower landed on the road in the middle of the intersection and the truck with the now empty trailer went merrily on its way. The guy did not even KNOW!!

Now that was spectacular to see...I mean one doesn't see a riding mower, yes I forgot to mention it was one of those cool- with the engine underneath the seat RIDING mowers. Now it's even more spectacular isn't it? hehehehe!

Well, now comes the really GOOD part, that part that gives me hope.

Not only did the guy one vehicle behind the truck stop to move the mower, he KNEW WHOSE MOWER IT WAS! Within twenty seconds, another truck stopped, blocking the way (only part way) where the mower was and the guy who was trying to move it...so he would not get hit. (sadly a few people did NOT stop and tried to get around and through the intersection. I stopped since I was in front and waited until they were safe.

I guess someone called the owner because within five minutes the mower was back were it belonged and the intersection clear.

People stopping and helping and KNOWING exactly to whom a piece of property belongs and them helping the guy out when he was (at first) clueless really REALLY gives me some hope for humanity.

And I really don't think one would see this happen in the big city only 16 miles away.

Humans have the most amazing abilities to be generous, compassionate, and kind. It's just it seems we don't get to see these qualities nearly enough.

So for a personal challenge, sometime this week -do some type of random act of kindness and don't let anyone catch ya doing it! :D

Peace!

AWESOME quote:

Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, water bugs, tadpoles, frogs, mud turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, chestnuts, trees to climb, brooks to wade, water lilies, woodchucks, bats, bees, butterflies, various animals to pet, hayfields, pinecones, rocks to roll, sand, snakes, huckleberries and hornets; and any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best part of education.

meat loaf

Life is like a meat loaf. Sorry Forrest but your momma was wrong. We can know what we are gonna get -if we pay attention.

As we make choices we add this and that and then the attitudes of the world bake it.

We control what goes into our meat loaf and we can also control to a large extent how we bake it by our reactions and actions to the world.

yes I am making a real meat loaf for dinner tonight and the smell is driving me crazy. It smells SO good. And I am NOT a good cook. I will endeavor to NOT burn it. My life is also 'cooking' along quite well.

I will endeavor to not 'burn' that meat loaf also.

Make your meat loaf delicious by putting good quality ingredients into it and spicing it up just right. Then bake it with a generous heat of love and compassion. It takes time and care but well worth the effort.

Now dig in!
